A military lifestyle is often a juggling act and a family can be separated for extended periods of time. The MFRC is here to help and support whoever’s trying to do all that juggling, especially when your loved one has been deployed or is away for extended periods of time due to training.
Services include deployment information and support, Keep In Touch (KIT) phone calls, care package creation, support gatherings and free respite childcare.
Contact our office for more information.
This monthly telephone service is designed to keep the family member at home connected to the community and MFRC while the military member is away. It’s an empathetic ear ready to listen, and inform about available services, programs and other relevant information – including decoding military language. To sign up, call 403-410-23020 ext. 3590 or email email@example.com.
Families can send care packages to members deployed overseas or stationed at another base free of charge through the MFRC. Parcels must be sealed and addressed, with a return address, content list and phone number visible. Packages usually arrive at their destinations within four to six weeks.
Once a month, family members come together to hang out on our comfy couches and just talk – with plenty of snacks and good company on hand, it’s always a good break and a great way to meet others! Check out The HOMEFRONT newsletter to find out when the next one is being held.
R2MR is a preparatory program for both military members and their families to learn about the deployment (separation) cycle. Should you anticipate a separation the MFRC can offer the R2MR program on an individual or small group basis.
This 24-hour, 365 days a year bilingual hotline acts as a resource for families to hear pre-recorded and weekly updated messages left by deployed members, describing what their deployment is like. It gives those at home a glimpse into the deployment that they otherwise wouldn’t get.
The hotline is also manned by an individual who can provide immediate, short-term counselling services to family and military members. The number is 1-800-866-4546.
