Mental health affects us all. Sometimes our mental health is challenged by difficult situations that can be eased with time and informal support. Other times the challenges are significant enough that we require specialized assistance. That’s when knowing the resources available to you can be invaluable.
The Calgary MFRC offers access to a wide variety of mental health programs and services in accordance with the Military Family Services Program (MFSP) Mental Health Framework. These services include outreach and engagement, ongoing peer support, psychoeducation, psychosocial and mental health treatment opportunities.
This month we will be looking at a variety of resources available to all of our military members, veterans, and their families to support mental health and physical wellness throughout our community. For example, we have just completed our annual Moving Forward Retreat, which focuses on helping military members and their partners deal with PTSD and OSI related issues. This year, we are extending the education component, and we will be providing follow-up workshops throughout the year to help continue the discussion around mental health and wellness. You can learn more about the workshops being offered on page 7 of this newsletter.
We are always here to support our military family members. If you, your partner, your children or another loved one are struggling with stress, difficult situations, PTSD, OSI or behavioural issues, let us know. We would be happy to talk with you and help you see what types of mental health programs and services are available at our location. All calls are confidential. We also have a Family Liasion Officer who you can talk to for support.
