Life in a military family is all about transitions. Some of them are directly linked to military life, such as postings, deployments, releasing and retirement. Others are challenges faced by all families – think marriage, new babies, new schools, and caring for aging parents – though these challenges take on their own unique character in military families.
The team at the Calgary MFRC is here to support you through all stages of these transitions. We all know change can be scary, and we want you to feel prepared for your next transition; whether that means getting you in touch with the MFRC at your new posting before you move, or helping you find information to prepare for a new baby, we’re here for you.
We also know that transitions are easier when you feel connected to your community. Part of our mission is to help you make those connections. That may be through social events with other military families hosted by the MFRC, such as the annual Christmas and Stampede parties, or our summer day camp program for children in military families. We’re also here to help you feel connected in the civilian community. Whether you need information on child care options, mental health resources or you just want to know what’s going on in Calgary this week (and whether we have any free tickets!), we are more than happy to help you out.
At the end of the day, we here at the MFRC want you to know that we’re here to help support you and your family through whatever transition you’re going through and help you get to a place where your family is empowered and thriving.
