The first-ever Breakfast On The Bridge was held at 5 a.m. on June 21 on Calgary’s Peace Bridge. The brainchild of George Brookman and West Canadian Graphics, the event was held in honour of military families and commemorated the beginning of World War I, 100 years ago. More than 200 guests – past and present politicians, business members, military members and their families – attended the sunrise breakfast, watching as vintage aircraft performed fly-bys, the Canadian flag was raised, entertainment provided and speeches given by organizers and special guest General (Ret’d) Rick Hillier. A special thanks goes to W. Brett Wilson, Hotel Arts Group, the City of Calgary and all donors and sponsors for making this a wonderful event that will only get better each year!
